About the Story
The cells of a girl killed five hundred years ago changed the world five hundred years later.
WORLD UNIFICATION
Five hundred years later. By the power of the megacorp "Astracore," the world was unified as one. Borders were lost. War ended. Weapons—guns, missiles, and more—were discarded, and humanity seemed to have left behind the age of fighting by force.
FEATURE CELL
In that world, unknown cells are discovered in the remains of the girl who died five hundred years ago. "Feature Cells" Named so, those cells regenerated the human body and even cured diseases that had never been healable—cells of hope.
SUCCESSORS
But that power had a price. Feature Cells greatly changed the human body, and sometimes manifested extraordinary powers beyond the human. What's more, among those who hosted the cells, some began to hear unidentified strange voices. People feared that power, and came to persecute those who carried Feature Cells. But Astracore shifted to a policy of protecting the Star Successors. They named those with Feature Cells "Star Successors" and built a system that granted them various privileges. Yet before long, the world changed. Star Successors were given affluent lives, and those without Feature Cells were pushed to the outside. Those once discriminated against became the favored. And newly discriminated people were born. The world divided humans into two again. Eventually, freedom was taken from many people.

In that warped world, there was a young man who had lived without knowing his own birth, or the past his parents had borne.
His name is Lado.

Humanity should have been freed from conflict, and found unprecedented peace and prosperity. But that ideal did not last long. Because with the discovery of Feature Cells, the ideal began to crumble. And when one girl stood at Astracore’s summit, the company that once brought peace began to turn into a force that ruled over people.

The Resisters
Twenty years ago, a rebel force was formed to resist Astracore’s rule over the world. Centered on the hero “Leak,” they fought on to reclaim the world’s freedom. But they were defeated by Astracore, and the organization was destroyed.

Feature Cells
Cells that heal disease and grant extraordinary power. Those implanted with them come to be called “Star Successors.” The implant site holds a special power, but each use draws the host closer to death. Newer generations are improved—but as the fear of death recedes, that extraordinary power grows weaker.

Star Successors
Those who carry Feature Cells. Only those recognized by the world are chosen, and favored as a new class. Most Star Successors have no power—but a few awaken to rare gifts. And the stronger the generation’s power, the steeper the cost.
